A Mom driving a Kia SUV full of kids runs red light, hits driver in a Civic, and runs from the scene while the dashcam owner follows in hot pursuit.

North Dakotan and Redditor /u/94432345545643256572 shared dashcam footage from Fargo, North Dakota from earlier last week (Oct 13, 2024) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a Mom in her Kia Sorento full of kids run a red light, hit a car, and turn it into a hit-and-run when she refused to pull over.

Check out /u/94432345545643256572’s dashcam footage below.

The initial accident occurred at the intersection of 40 Ave S and 45th St S (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As /u/94432345545643256572’s dashcam footage shows, he was stopped at the aforementioned intersection when he witnessed a driver in a Kia Sorento run the red light and emergency brake to avoid hitting a driver in their white Honda Civic.

The Sorento clips the driver’s side fender of the Civic.

At that point, the Sorento driver should’ve driven to the side of the road or pulled into the nearest safe place to exchange information with the driver in the Civic but she drove off, turning what would’ve been a simple collision into a hit-and-run.

Both the victim and OP follow in hot pursuit.

We see the Sorento driver, who we later find out was a Mom driving with a load of kids, try to evade the victim and OP by pulling into a nearby residential area before eventually giving up near an apartment complex.

OP doesn’t mention if police were called to the scene of the hit-and-run which, if they did, would possibly turn what would’ve been a simple collision into official charges carrying hefty fines and punishments.

“I appreciate how at that first intersection you were like “ok I gotta see how this turns out,” /u/wlonkly commented.

“Not sure I’d be brave enough to corner the idiot in his driveway,” /u/TheSanityInspector added.

“The washer fluids trail got me dead, lmfao,” /u/Certain_Storm_9727 hilariously pointed out.

In North Dakota, hit-and-runs involving property damage only are classified as a Class B Misdemeanor, subject to up to 30 days in jail and/or a fine up to $1,500.

Seeing how police probably weren’t called, this will be an issue for their insurance agents to parse through.
