A woman driver attempted to cut across three lanes of oncoming traffic as a shortcut only to come within inches of T-boning a truck towing a car hauler.
Marylander and Redditor /u/Sp3ica1_K shared headshaking dashcam footage from Severn from earlier in October (Oct 30, 2024) showing a reckless woman driver pulling off her special shortcut, which involves crossing a set of double yellow lines and three lanes of oncoming traffic, only to come within inches of T-boning a truck towing a car hauler.
Check out his dashcam footage below.
[oc] attempted to cut through three lanes of oncoming

The incident happened on the 7800 block of Maryland Route 170 (MD-170) in Severn (exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
In OP’s dashcam footage we can see OP stopped relatively near the intersection of Telegraph Rd. and Reece Rd.
Suddenly, a woman driver in her red Kia Soul going the other way attempts to make a left turn across three lanes of oncoming traffic.
Without a way to see oncoming traffic in one of the lanes, she blindly drives forward, only to come within inches of T-boning a driver in a heavy-duty truck towing a car hauler.
If that wasn’t bad enough, she then blindly reversed, and yes, there was another car that had to emergency brake to avoid hitting the woman in her Kia.
“Dashcam didn’t catch it but a car had to slam on the brakes and stopped next to me.”
Keen and and other commenters noticed she isn’t alone, there’s a kid in the back seat, too.
“Idiot pulling this move with a kid in the back seat. She’s definitely used this maneuver in the past, too. looks like some shortcut she’s created for herself to get to that on ramp,” /u/ThatsMyDogBoyd commented.
“Oh, illegal turns involving angled entrances & exits just set my blood pressure skyrocketing!,” /u/TheSanityInspector added.
“My guess is this person didn’t want to wait for a red light, god forbid. Seems like that goes into a shopping center. Horrible move and they almost made someone’s day bad,” /u/StackThePads33 added.
A quick look on Google Maps reveals that to get into this particular shopping center going the opposite way requires a left turn across double yellow lines, legal, although you must do so by slowing, signaling, and turning only when you have a clear view of oncoming traffic.
You can also either use the center turn lane to make a wide enough U-turn aided by Faith Rd only 60 meters away or you can turn right on Morgan Station Dr. about 500 meters away, make a U-turn, and then turn left back onto Telegraph Rd.
I can understand the frustration of making such “complicated” maneuvers and why this legal shortcut looks appealing, but you have to be 100 percent sure you won’t hit oncoming traffic.
Thankfully, no one got hurt here but, as others have commented, I highly doubt she learned anything.
