“If this is your mother in town for Thanksgiving – tell them I said they suck at driving,” says Redditor.
Austin resident and Redditor /u/LayDownLarry shared a moment of headshaking driving incompetence in Austin the day before Thanksgiving (Nov 27, 2024) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a driver in her Chevrolet Tahoe forcing herself into a turn lane only to go straight, and over a sidewalk.
And, it was all caught on the dashcam below.

The incident happened at the intersection of W Cesar Chavez St and B.R. Reynolds Dr. in Austin (exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
In OP’s dashcam, he’s driving along W Cesar Chavez St. when said driver in a red Chevrolet Tahoe approaches from the left lane, signals, and gets in front of him.
Then, the Tahoe signals and gets into the rightmost turn lane onto B.R. Reynolds Dr.
As the screenshot of the overhead below shows, while she’s in a turn lane, if you’re not paying attention, it sort of looks like you can go straight, which she then does.
Instead of turning, she goes straight in front of OP.
Not wanting to make the situation worse, OP backs off and lets it all play out.
In a high-riding SUV, she makes quick work of the sidewalk before plinking down in the right lane.
Shortly after, she gives OP the bird.
“I love how you get the finger for knowing how turn lanes work,” /u/TheGreatLightDesert commented.
“Anyone with a brain would know if they’re the ones way up on the curb, they are the ones who messed up”
“The finger was a true chef’s kiss on top of the whole situation,” /u/LayDownLarry replied.
“Gotta love the idiots of the world. 100 percent in the wrong but f*** you for just being there.”, /u/Aucjit added.
In Texas, driving on the sidewalk is a misdemeanor subject to a fine $200 fine.
