This idiot driver had the red light for 10+ seconds at that point and showed no signs of slowing, at all.
Mason area commuter and Redditor /u/SilentSaiman shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier this week (May 23, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a possibly distracted driver blowing through this Reading Rd intersection with a red light and t-boning a school bus as a result.
Check out the hard hit caught on dashcam below with the original Reddit thread linked here.
The incident happened at the intersection of Snider Rd. and Reading Rd. (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As OP’s dashcam footage shows, he’s stopped on Snider Rd as cars begin to turn left and right onto Reading.
As such, traffic going perpendicular to Reading has a red light.
Next, traffic going straight through Reading gets the green light.
At that point, the cross traffic had a red light for well over 10 seconds (15 seconds by the time our idiot comes into frame.)
Suddenly, a driver in white looks like a White Honda Accord comes barreling through the intersection, showing no signs of slowing.
The driver in the Accord T-bones the school bus, hard, rocking the bus back and forth.
It’s not clear if there were students on board at the time however, OP replies to a comment asking if the kids were ok that there were “only minor injuries, nothing serious.”
Again, it’s not clear if that reply meant kids, too.
“Let me guess, on their cell phone?” the top comment from /u/pierre_x10 reads.
The fact that this driver didn’t slow is consistent with distracted red light runners.
“And here you see why school buses are built on truck frames,” /u/BouncingSphinx added, pointing out how the nature of school bus construction provides enough strength to carry dozens of students and safety at the same time.
“Man, that idiot is going away for sure, I can’t imagine any judge being kind to someone who hits a school bus,” /u/PerceptionQueasy3540 hoped.
The important thing is that everyone involved made it out alive and safe, a testament to modern car construction.
Regardless, being this careless, especially on such a basic intersection, there’s just no excuse for it.
This should serve as a cautionary tale, especially if you’re one to reach for your phone behind the wheel.
