With their view blocked by this dashcam owner signaling to turn left, this driver thought then was a good idea to turn across approaching traffic.

Prospect driver and Redditor /u/TheZackManD shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier in November (Nov 18, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a left turner blindly making his turn despite OP blocking their field of view, resulting in them t-boning traffic with the right of way.

Check out the dashcam video below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident happened at the intersection of N Main St. and W Henry St. (exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As OP’s dashcam shows, he’s driving along W Main St and stops to signal to turn left on E Henry St.

At the same time, a driver in a Honda CR-V is also stopped going the opposite direction, making their own left onto W Henry St.

The turner opposite to OP chooses that time, when, now, part of their view is obstructed, to begin their turn.

It’s worth noting that yes, OP is signaling to turn left and doesn’t, in any way, wave the other driver to turn in front of them.

Unbeknownst to the other driver, there’s a driver in a Mercedes with the right of way going through.

The turner t-bones the Mercedes, causing thousands in damage to their own car as well as to the vehicle of the innocent Mercedes driver.

Thankfully, the collision was at a relatively low speed, thanks in no small part to the Mercedes driver’s emergency braking.

The driver in the CR-V ends up colliding with a light pole, coming to an abrupt stop.

“What a s*** road. Bet that shit happens all the time,” one of the top comments from /u/DirtBagDownHill reads.

“Y’all can’t hear the turning signal? I realize it’s under the music, but it’s there,” /u/Cobalt32 added, addressing how it was not OP’s fault and he indeed did not waive the other driver through.

“Honestly, even if you did wave them through, it’s still 100% on them. It’s their responsibility to make sure both lanes are clear before crossing,” /u/A7xWicked added.

“They didn’t even show any hesitation by inching forward to see better. Just went for it.”

In Illinois, under 625 ILCS 5/11-902, a driver making a left turn must yield to oncoming traffic that poses an immediate hazard. (Illinois General Assembly) An “Improper left turn with oncoming traffic” violation carries 25 points on your driving record. (illinoisdriverslicensereinstatementlawyer.com) A common fine for such a ticket is typically $60.50 before all the fees, though penalties vary by county and court. (16thcircuit.org)
