This unhinged driver mistook this dashcam owner braking for a turning truck as a brake check. Then, he resorted to road rage.
Sarasota driver and Redditor /u/Zheka160 shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier in November (Nov 17, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing an unhinged driver confusing OP slowing down for a turning truck as a brake check on him. Confused and mad, the driver resorted to extreme road rage to exact his “revenge.”
Check out the dashcam footage embedded below (It’s black, but press play), and here’s the original Reddit thread linked here.
The initial incident happened near the intersection of 17th St and Hammock Pl, with the actual road rage encounter occurring slightly past there (location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the dashcam shows, OP is driving along the 4000 block of 17th St. when, upon coming to the aforementioned t-intersection, he slows for a driver in a lifted Ford F-series turning onto Hammock.
A driver in a chopped Toyota RAV-4, with a busted up bumper, riding OP’s rear can be seen coming with a couple of feet of OP before, upon OP slowing, backing off, thinking he was brake-checked.
The RAV-4 driver can be seen taking a beat before furiously accelerating past OP, cutting him off before Prudence Dr, and stopping his sick ride in front of him.
The Toyota driver hops out and yells a couple of sentences at OP before hopping back in and driving off.
Thankfully, nothing happens beyond that, but…what a way to handle a perceived slight.
“People need to stop thinking that a road is an acceptable place to have a conversation. The only person who looks like a d**che is the guy getting out of their vehicle,” the top comment from /u/talann reads.
“Pretty obvious why his rear bumper cover is missing,” /u/lanthin1 added.
“Drivers who don’t pay attention further than the car directly in front of them are the worst,” /u/HagBolder11 commented.
In Sarasota (and Florida in general), confronting someone by stopping your vehicle and yelling could be charged as reckless driving under Fla. Stat. § 316.192, which carries a fine of $25–$500 before all the fees (or up to $1,000 for repeat offenses). (The Florida Senate) A conviction for reckless driving adds 4 points to your Florida driving record. (The Florida Senate)
