The elderly woman admitted, loud and clear for the dashcam, “I had the yellow.” Like that makes it somehow better?

The son of a Delray Beach-area driver, Redditor /u/Aglisto, shared dashcam footage from his Dad’s vehicle from earlier this year, in December (Dec 2, 2025), to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a turner with a yellow light failing to yield for his Dad, with the right of way, ending up severely crashing into his car.

Check out the dashcam footage embedded below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

As mentioned, the incident happened at the intersection of Lyons Rd. and Golden Crescent in the Valencia Sound neighborhood of Delray Beach (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As the dashcam so clearly shows, OP’s dad is driving along Lyons Rd and enters the aforementioned intersection clearly with a yellow.

A driver in a white BMW, also with a yellow (or flashing yellow), fails to yield to OP’s dad and continues with their turn despite turners with a yellow having the duty to yield to drivers going straight (with the right of way)

Despite his best braking efforts, the BMW clips OP’s dad’s vehicle hard, causing thousands in damage to both their vehicles, with debris from both their cars thrown into the air.

With two seconds left in the 20-second clip, we can hear the other driver yell,

“I had…the yellow light,”

…making it that much easier for OP’s dads and the other driver’s insurance to assign 100 percent blame to the BMW driver.

Thankfully, according to the thread title, his Dad is OK, and presumably the other driver is, too.

“Both cars legally entered the intersection on a yellow light, but the BMW blatantly failed to yield when making an unprotected left. This is entirely their fault,” the top comment from /u/appa-ate-momo reads.

“I always figure you let the person give their side to the police, point to the camera, and then see how their story changes in the face of a false police report,” /u/1992Prime added.

“That’s what he did. Before he had a chance to speak, there were 2 cars, 5 witnesses total, all saying the BMW was at fault,” OP replied.

In Florida, a failure to yield right‑of‑way violation is a non‑criminal moving violation that typically carries 3 points on your driving record under the state point system. (FL Highway Safety) A fine for a basic failure‑to‑yield ticket can be up to about $500, with the exact amount varying by county and potentially higher if the failure to yield causes a crash (like in this case) occurs in a school or construction zone, or involves injuries.
