In one truly asinine move, this elderly driver signaled left from a lane that only goes straight, then cut across 3 other lanes against a green light.

Daytona Beach driver and Redditor /u/MrRedLogan shared some truly headshaking dashcam footage from earlier in January (Jan 23, 2026) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing an elderly driver in a Hyundai Santa Fe attempting a left turn, against a green light, from a lane only meant for traffic going straight.

Check out the dashcam footage embedded below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident happened at the intersection of Williamson Blvd and W International Speedway Blvd. (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As the dashcam shows, OP is stopped, pointed southwest bound on Speedway in the leftmost turn lane in one of the two left turn lanes.

To his right is traffic with the green light going straight.

To understand where this white Hyundai Santa Fe started from, I’ve highlighted the lane they emerge from, denoted by the red star below.

Int’l Speedway and Williamson.

The Santa Fe goes straight, then signals and cuts across through traffic by turning left in the middle of the intersection.

The inevitable happens, and they get t-boned by cross traffic with the right of way.

The collision is so bad that it sends the Santa Fe spinning a full 360 before landing violently right side up.

The force from landing dislodges the spare tire, which we can see rolling across the intersection.

Spare tire rolling across the intersection.

OP does not mention if anyone was seriously injured; with that amount of energy being thrown around, one would be likely.

The Santa Fe, for sure, is totaled, and the same can likely be said for the victim’s vehicle, too.

“Bad drivers NEVER miss their turn. Dude was committed to keeping that streak going,” the top comment from /u/JZSlider reads.

“Of course it’s Florida,” /u/BadA**BokoblinPsycho added.

Being on this sub, you really see how we perma-f***ed ourselves here in the US. Most people basically have to drive, including elderly folks. Many live in these sprawling suburbs with oversized stroads that encourage high speeds. As dumb as the driver in this video is… if this was a rotary with calmer traffic, or a town with a two-lane 30 mph road… or if they lived somewhere with decent transit… the whole situation would be avoidable,” /u/afleetingmoment shared.

In Florida, making an unsafe left turn that causes a collision is treated as a moving violation and typically results in 4 points on your driving record, which can contribute to a license suspension if you rack up too many within a set period. (DMV.ORG)

The fine for an improper or unsafe turn ticket generally falls in the range of roughly $100–$300, plus court costs and fees (and can be higher if the crash caused serious damage or injuries). (legalclarity.org)

Accruing 12 points within 12 months can trigger a 30-day license suspension under Florida’s point system. (FL Highway Safety)
