Local residents say this Tesla driver is known for in-town shenanigans, flouting traffic laws to get where they need to go.

Los Angeles-area driver and Redditor /u/D10SLM shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier in February (February 24, 2026) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a driver in their Tesla using Winnetka Ave’s center turn lane like their own personal Autobahn.

Check out the dashcam footage embedded below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident happened along the 7000 block of Winnetka just before the intersection with Saticoy St. (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As the dashcam shows, OP is headed southbound down Winnetka towards the aforementioned intersection.

Suddenly, a driver in a black Mercedes C300 with license plate EH25Z60 can be seen overtaking OP using the center turn lane.

The Mercedes driver slips back onto Winnetka headed the right way, but does it again, overtaking an SUV in front of them.

Despite their F1-style driving, fate takes over, and the Mercedes driver hits a red light at Saticoy.

Not wanting to go through the “humiliation” of getting caught up by traffic following the rules of the road, the Mercedes driver pulls a truly insane move and makes a right turn, against a red light, from the left-most turn lane.

“Wow. The right-hand turn from the left-turning lane was the icing on the shi**y driving cake,” reads the top comment from /u/PSPsO.

“I posted this in a local sub and several people have seen this same car pulling the same stunt on multiple occasions, just typical LA crazy drivers 😅😅,” OP clarified.

“Pretty sure I saw this guy on Reseda twice already, or it could just be another a**hole from the same family,” /u/gentle_singularity replied on another thread.

In California, it’s illegal to use the center lane except to pass another vehicle when it’s safe, prepare for a left turn, or when the center lane is properly marked for your direction. A violation of California Vehicle Code § 21659 can cost about $238 plus fees and adds 1 point to your DMV driving record, which may increase insurance and lead to license action if points accumulate. Turning right on a red light from a lane other than the proper far-right lane (or without stopping/yielding as required) is an improper turn under California Vehicle Code § 22100/§ 21453. Such a moving violation typically brings a fine (base often ~$35 but total can be ~$235–$250 with fees) and 1 point on your DMV record. (Shouse Law Group)
