This Tesla Model 3 owner returned from his son’s soccer game to find his pride and joy keyed. Looking at his car’s on-board camera replay the latest incident revealed the perp, caught in the act.
Some people are jealous for no good reason. According to a Reddit thread that popped up on /r/TeslaMotors earlier yesterday (Sept. 29,2019) a Tesla Model 3 owner shared a video and the face of a presumably Broomfield, CO resident keying this man’s electric car parked at Legacy High School while he watched his son play soccer.

If you didn’t already know, earlier back in February, Tesla rolled out Sentry mode for all Tesla cars made after 2017. Essentially, this allows Teslas to be in a standby mode just in case a break-in, theft, or similar event, like someone keying your car, happens.
With sentry mode turned on, Teslas use all cameras to record the incident. Owners then get an alert on their smart devices if an alarm event happens, wherein they can download any video their Tesla captures.
That’s what happened in this situation.
According to the Tesla Model 3 owner regarding what might’ve caused this unhinged woman from doing something so abhorrent.
“There was a minor misunderstanding about right of way pulling into the parking lot, no big deal. I didn’t even think about it until the keying happened.”
To get the word out, this Tesla Model 3 owner forwarded this woman’s face and video to local police, Facebook groups, and to his son’s entire soccer league.
Although no update’s been posted, I have a feeling someone knows this lady and will rat her out.
Some people see a nice car, get into a bad interaction with said owner, and thinks they’re justified causing some sort of small damage. That logic is just plain nuts.
Shame on that woman, I hope she get’s caught A.S.A.P. and slapped with a fat fine.
“small damage”, I suppose it’s all relative, but felony level damage is large in my book. It’s quite likely that to properly repair the car it’ll need to be either entirely repainted or maybe, just maybe, Tesla will provide new quarter panels and doors that match well; however, in the case of tesla cars I’m not sure that quarter panel can even be replaced, so the best option for the owner is a new factory paint job. After the felony charge, I’d also pursue a civil charge. Having your car out of commission for the time it takes to repair could also be huge inconvenience with real dollar value. We’re not talking about some spontaneous shallow teenager, that’s a 50 year old woman who is obviously a menace.
