These are the types of red light running that can potentially cause a fatal accident.
Presumed Virginian and Redditor /u/rapdashing shared shocking dashcam footage taken earlier this week (June 16, 2024) from Woodbridge showing the harebrained moment a reckless driver in a Ford F-150 ran a red light at an intersection at ludicrous speeds.

The incident took place at the intersection of Waterway Dr. and Spring Branch Blvd. (exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As OP’s video shows, he comes to a stop at the aforementioned intersection.
The speed limit on this stretch of road is just 35 MPH.
A good nine seconds after his light turned red and at least one crossover turned, we see a driver in a silver Ford F-150 blow past OP and through the intersection at what honestly looks like a speed touching 100 MPH.
The F-150 comes with a handful of feet of T-boning a black Honda HR-V.
We see the driver in the HR-V pause for 5-6 seconds as the driver presumably regains his composure.
According to My Improv, speeding 20+ MPH over the speed limit like this is subject to a $183 base fine, 6 points on your record and a reckless driving charge.
And, according to Cook Attorneys, running a red light is subject to a fine between $100-350, four points on your record, and the moving violation staying on your record for 3 years.
“Doing something like this should be straight to jail,” /u/_jump_yossarian commented.
“That kills people. What an jack***,” /u/texatiguan added.
“Kinda crazy how the car that almost got hit was way further back behind the first car, and also took its time getting going. If it hadn’t done one of those things, they probably would’ve been hit,” /u/BOBfrkinSAGET replied.
OP asked if anyone could read the plates but, unfortunately, the video quality is not up to snuff.
Commenters suggested looking at the raw, uncompressed video for a better look.
This is unfortunately why, even if you’re driving defensively, disastrous accidents could happen.
Regardless, it would behoove you to continue to practice safe driving techniques like pausing before entering an intersection and having heightened awareness at especially highly trafficked areas of town.
