This driver towing a trailer decided he was too good to wait with everyone else and drove against traffic to get his way.

Louisianian and Redditor /u/StormTroopa13 shared head-shaking dashcam footage from earlier in August (Aug 2, 2024) from Donaldsonville to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a driver towing a trailer recklessly bypassing a line of patiently waiting cars at a train crossing by driving on the wrong side of the road around a blind corner.

Check out the dashcam footage for yourself below.

Idiot with camper too entitled to wait for train crossing with everyone else, decided to drive into oncoming traffic around blind curve. [OC]

The incident happened on Louisiana State Highway 70 just after the intersection with John Folse Service Rd. (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As the footage shows, OP makes a right turn onto LA-70.

A line of cars headed in the opposite direction are all waiting for a train stopped to start moving so they can cross.

About a quarter of a mile later, OP rounds a blind corner and encounters our antagonist, a driver in a Dodge Ram towing a camper trailer.

Vehicles in front of OP have to drive into the breakdown lane to avoid hitting the camper towing driver head-on.

Driving on the wrong side of the road in Louisiana is a moving violation (32.71) and is subject to a base fine of $150 before additional costs are tacked on.

“He’s lucky y’all weren’t going any faster! x_x And sometimes the best thing to do is just get out of an idiot’s way,” /u/ZenkaiAnkoku2 commented.

“I’d have been laying on the horn. You’re more patient than I am. Also, I noticed the audiobook too. In most of these videos the drivers are listening to very interesting programs,” /y/Rare-Craft-920 added.

“The way I’d have sat in my lane and just blocked them. I’m not going into the shoulder because you wanna feel like a super special princess and drive into oncoming traffic,” /u/Maj0rsquishy replied.

Despite the instinctual need to dole out justice against wrong-way drivers, especially ones who know exactly what they’re doing, it’s often best not to engage them.

Staying calm, slowing down, and moving to the right as safely as possible is probably the best thing to do in these situations.

If you have a dashcam, it doesn’t hurt sending that video to the local authorities.

Besides that, you can only hope karma in the form of instant justice happens to them sooner rather than later.
