A motorcyclist recklessly blew through a red light and crashed into a dashcam owner’s vehicle.

North Carolinian and Redditor /u/FrankTheLlama shared dashcam footage to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit from Raleigh from earlier last week (Oct 8, 2024) showing a motorcycle rider slamming into what looks like the side of his rear passenger tire, causing him to fall off his bike onto the ground.

Check out the dashcam footage below.

At least he was dressed for the slide, not the ride. [OC]

The incident happened at the intersection of E Edenton St. and N Swain St. in Raleigh, NC (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As the dashcam footage shows, /u/FrankTheLlama makes a left turn onto E Edenton St.

The footage shows he’s had the green light for several seconds so, it was in no way a newly turned green light.

Suddenly, we hear and then see a motorcyclist slam into the side of his vehicle.

A motorcyclist ran a red light.

We hear OP let out a sigh.

“The sigh of “I’m not angry, I’m just disappointed,” /u/Forever_Overthinking commented.

To his credit and as stated in OP’s title, “At least he was dressed for the slide, not the ride.”

With riding boots, jeans, a hoddie, and a helmet, although he hit the ground relatively hard, he survived pretty much unscathed.

“The motorcyclist was fine and he did apologize to me personally for the colossal screwup. Brand new bike too.”

“That backcam footage is hilarious. WTF was the idiot thinking?,” /u/_jump_yossarian commented.

“I’m sorry this happened to you but also the video of him falling off your back windows is so funny,” /u/MsThrilliams added.

OP did not confirm if the motorcyclist had insurance as it did not contain that information on the police report.

Thankfully, he had a dashcam running from multiple angles and, if and when he hears back with their insurance information, the footage should make it easier for their adjuster.
