The officer immediatly got out of his cruiser to correct his mistake.
Clark County commuter and Redditor /u/Poof_Hatch shared interesting dashcam footage from earlier in December (Dec 21, 2024 at 10:19 AM) from Las Vegas showing a presumed officer in a Las Vegas Police Cruiser driving into a bright orange traffic delineator/cone in the middle of making a turn
Distracted? You decide.
Check out OP’s dashcam footage embedded below with their original Reddit thread linked here.
The incident happened at the intersection of Jones Blvd and W Windmill Ln (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As OP’s dashcam footage shows, he’s stopped at the aforementioned intersection when left-turning traffic gets the green light and the right of way.
As shown in the video and even on Google Maps, traffic delineators are in place to direct traffic due to road work up ahead.
An officer driving a Las Vegas Police Cruiser allegedly distracted or otherwise, can be seen turning and hitting one of the delineators.
Not shirking responsibility, the officer pulls over and rectifies his mistake, placing the traffic cone back to where it was.
“Honestly surprised he fixed the cone,” /u/ComedicHermit commented.
“If you have a friend at the department, please make sure they get the video. I’m sure they’d love to see it so they can poke fun at the officer,” /u/Cephrael37 suggested.
“To protect and To swerve. And most importantly To pretend,” /u/WaifuPillow humoursly added.
In Nevada and most other states, running over a traffic delineator/traffic cone, especially in a construction zone, is arguably a type of careless driving.
Violators of careless driving are subject to a fine, jail time, and points on your driving record.
In this case, Quis Custodiet Ipsos Custodes? (Or, who watches the watchmen?)
Who will cite a police officer accordingly?
Either another LVPD officer or your guess is as good as mine.
