A distracted driver in a residential came within feet of T-boning an OKC police cruiser, and it was all caught on dashcam.

OKC commuter and Redditor /u/Sugar-Pox shared dashcam footage to the /r/IdiotsinCars subreddit from Lincoln Terrace East from earlier this February (Feb 11, 2025) showing a distracted driver assume a two-way stop was a four-way, only to nearly T-bone an OKC police cruiser.

Check out OP’s dashcam video embedded below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident happened at the intersection of NE 16th St. and N Phillips Ave. in Oklahoma City (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As the dashcam footage shows, OP rolls up to the two-way stop at the aforementioned intersection and slows to a stop.

A driver in a Mazda crossover stops, too, but assumes cross traffic has a stop sign, which they don’t.

At the same time the Mazda driver goes forward, an OKC police cruiser with the right of way crosses.

The Mazda driver comes within a few feet of hitting the officer’s vehicle.

OP doesn’t mention if the OKC officer eventually pulls them over so it’s safe to assume the Mazda driver learned a valuable lesson that day and nothing else.

“This is embarrassing but one time I stopped at an intersection when I didn’t have to, causing the person adjacent to think the next car had to stop. They crashed,” /u/BarelyContainedChaos shared.

“It’s like no one knows how to drive these days…Maybe there would be fewer accidents and near misses if people went through some type of education for driving instead of just getting a license out of a cereal box….,” /u/Warithvenge sarcastically commented.

“I hate two-way stops like this that don’t make it painfully obvious that it’s a 2-way stop,” /u/nilarips commiserated.

This video and other Redditors comments are a timely reminder that it would behoove you to confirm stop signs when you roll up to what you think is a four-way stop.
