Risking a side-swipe accident, this impatient Camaro driver saved a total of two seconds on their commute.
Boston commuter and Redditor /u/WickedCoddah shared headshaking dashcam footage from Arlington from earlier this week (Mar 12, 2025) showing an impatient driver in their Chevrolet Camaro decide it’s a good idea to pass on a single lane on-ramp instead of….I don’t know…wait two more seconds behind OP.
Check out his hare-brained maneuver below with the original Reddit thread linked here.
The incident happened in Arlington on this Massachusetts Route 2 on-ramp (exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As OP’s dashcam footage shows, he’s merging onto Mass Route 2 west using a rather generous but single-lane onramp.
Suddenly, with apparently enough room for two vehicles, a driver in a loud, black Chevrolet Camaro comes screaming by OP, narrowly smacking head-on into the end of the gore point.
OP has to scooch to the left side of the single lane to avoid getting side-swiped.
The Camaro can be seen accelerating into the distance, saving what amounts to two whole seconds of his commute, but doing so in one risky maneuver.
“Mission accomplished. They made it to their destination 2 seconds earlier,” /u/Flyman69 commented.
“I had someone do this to me once. That’s when I decided to get a dashcam,” /u/Any-Grapefruit-937 replied.
I’m shocked, SHOCKED! A dou*** in a compensation car acts like a dou***,” /u/fcukmicrosoft aptly put it.
In Massachusetts and most states, this is arguably negligent driving, one step below reckless.
Violators convicted of negligent driving are subject to a fine of up to $200 before fees, possible jail time, and more than likely a license suspension, too.
