“What the f*** is going on?” this exasperated dashcam owner said to himself as three vehicles pulling illegal maneuvers narrowly avoided each other.
St. Petersburg commuter and Redditor /u/LotusOfSin shared truly headshaking dashcam footage from earlier last week (Mar 16, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing three drivers all trying illegal maneuvers at the same time on this particular Gateway Expressway off-ramp.
Check out the moment embedded below with the original Reddit thread linked here.
The incident happened at a Gateway Expressway off-ramp where drivers on the 690 have the option to stay on the 690 to transition to the 19 or take 686 West (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the dashcam footage shows, OP is driving on a particularly busy part of this Expressway interchange.
Here’s what it looks like from a bird’s eye view.

In the middle lane, he notices a driver in a teal Toyota Prius almost reversing on the aforementioned off-ramp, trying to merge back onto the 690.
If that wasn’t bad enough, at the same time, a driver in a Hyundai Tucson, not wanting to miss their exit (because of course they can’t) makes a multi-lane change mere feet from the gore point of the off-ramp, cutting OP off and barely making it.
The cherry on top is a driver in a gold Lexus RX absolutely cutting through the gore point, into the off-ramp, and in front of the Prius, waiting for traffic next to the off-ramp to clear.
“What the f*** is going on?” OP says to himself before changing lanes and getting absolutely the f*** away from that cursed area.
First, what the Prius and Lexus RX did is against the traffic code as the gore point is an extension of the shoulder and is technically illegal to travel through.
Just re-route, you idiots.
Next, cutting across that many lanes to make your exit is reckless and an improper way to change lanes.
Improper lane changes alone are subject to fines of up to $300 and three points on your record.
“Haha, I loved the exasperation in your voice! What the hell, that was an action-packed few seconds!!,” the top comment from /u/Danny2Sick reads.
“Omg, I had to rewind that like 5 times to catch all the stupid,” /u/YardarmN8 added.
“Three idiots in ten seconds… If that’s not a record it’s got to be top five. 👏👏👏👏👏,” /u/SteviaCannonball9117 concurred.
Reckless driving like this only increases the chances of getting into and causing an accident.
In the days of instantaneous GPS, missing your exit and re-routing is always the best option.
And even then, no GPS is no excuse to drive recklessly like that.
