This former claims adjuster witnessed what he said was a scenario for one of the worst kind of accidents, a left turn failure to yield.

Colorado Springs commuter and Redditor /u/DogsCatNature shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier last week (Apr 13, 2025) to the /r/mildlybaddrivers subreddit showing a driver in a Toyota Crossover jump out and turn left into cross traffic with the right of way despite having a red light.

Check out their dashcam footage embedded below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident happened at the intersection of E Brookside St. and Nevada Ave. (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As OP’s dashcam footage shows, he’s waiting at the aforementioned intersection, waiting for his light to turn green.

In front of him is a driver in a white Toyota RAV-4 with license plate BPWF81 also waiting.

Apparently, half a minute was too long to wait as, not even after over 30 seconds (according to OP,) the RAV-4 driver just sends it against a red light and into the intersection.

We can hear OP honking, warning the idiot driver of an impending collision.

Had it not been for the RAV-4 driver stopping in time, he would’ve been t-boned badly.

Fortunately, he and everyone approaching him make it out unscathed.

“Man, there’s running a dead red and then whatever this guy did. He said f*** everyone else but me,” the top comment from /u/Ton_in_the_sun reads.

“I’m wondering if the driver actually ‘lost the red lights’ in the red KFC building and didn’t think the signal was there? Of course, there are the traffic lights for the cross traffic that are easily noticed and not there for decoration,” /u/DesertStorm480 pointed out.

Even if this was an uncontrolled T-intersection, the RAV-4 driver should’ve still yielded the right of way properly.

“I live in Texas, EVERYTHING traffic related is just a suggestion, if not downright invisible. Especially yield signs, I swear Texans are physically incapable of seeing them at all (except when they decide to stop at one for 5 minutes with no other cars on the road at all),” /u/VayVay42 added.

In Colorado, running a red light is subject to a fine of between $75-100, depending on whether it was a red light camera or an officer. If it’s an officer-issued ticket, you get four points on your record, too.
