Lane Markings indicated this was not a safe place to pass, yet the driver did anyway.
Oakalla-Briggs driver and Redditor /u/Prestigious_Meat_246 shared exceptionally headshaking dashcam footage from earlier in May (May 15, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a minivan driver deciding it was safe to overtake on FM2657 despite it being uphill, on a blind corner, and with reduced nighttime visibility, too.
Check out their dashcam video with original Reddit thread posted below.
[OC] Passing on a blind curve, uphill, in the dark. What could possibly go wrong?

The incident happened in the 9000 block of FM2657 just before Winding River Road in Oakalla-Briggs, TX (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the dashcam footage shows, OP is driving along FM2657 early in the morning, well before sunrise.
Suddenly, a driver in an early ’00s Toyota Sienna minivan decides it’s a good time to pass despite not having the broken/dashed lane markings indicating it’s safe to overtake.
Why there aren’t lane markings indicating passing on his side becomes dangerously obvious as a car crests the hill, its headlights now visible.
The Sienna driver starts to overtake, OP indicating he lets off the gas to give him additional room to pass.
The driver coming the other way dips into whatever emergency breakdown lane’s available to avoid what would’ve been a head-on collision.
“Too close! If we hadn’t slowed down, I don’t think he would have had time to get over. Unfortunately, we see s*** like this almost every day on this road. There are deer everywhere out here. It blows my mind that people want to do 70+ on this hilly twisty road with no shoulder,” OP replied to another Redditor, saying how it was too close.
The video shows how close they got to side-swiping each other, it’s too close for comfort.
Thankfully, nothing comes of the incident, and everyone involved gets out of the harebrained pass unscathed.
“Why are people in such a hurry? OP was doing 5 or so over which is about normal for the general population on roads like this (weather permitting), but nope, still not good enough for this guy, they must put lives at risk to save a few more seconds,” /u/styckx added.
“The sky looked pretty though 😅,” /u/thisivi3 humoursly added.
In Texas, an unsafe lane change like this is subject to a $200 fine before all the fees and two points on your record.
