A responding police officer found the guilty driver and passed on her insurance information within the hour.
McMinville driver and Redditor /u/SlowwBurnn shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier in May (May 17, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars surbeddit as they were parked on Pacific Highway showing what looks like a plain ol’ clueless driver back into OP, hard, and, when honked at informing them of their bad driving, the driver drove off, turning what amounted to a hard dent into a hit-and-run case.
Check out their dashcam footage below with the original Reddit thread linked here.
The incident happened on the 300 block of Pacific Highway W (aka 99W) in McMinnville, OR (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As OP’s footage shows, they’re parked on the Pacific Highway, presumably just about to drive off.
A driver in a beige Chevrolet Tahoe (License Plate 199 KZS) parked in front of them walks up to the driver’s door, makes eye contact briefly with OP, gets into her Tahoe, and gets ready to drive off.
However, we see the white reversing lights pop on with the Tahoe reversing hard, into the front bumper of OP’s Ford F-250.
OP beeps at the driver twice, at which point the driver brakes and pauses, perhaps, at least, acknowledging she heard the honks, before turning a minor hit into a hit-and-run.
She drives off.
Lucky for OP, there was a police station not more than 300 feet from where they were parked on SW 2nd St, and a responding officer got the case buttoned up within the hour, quite literally.
“Behind me and across the street was the police station. By the time an officer pulled out to meet me there, he already had her info pulled up, and within 30 minutes, he had met with her, confirmed her insurance info, and passed it along to me. I guess I’m captivating,” OP commented.
“They will be pressing charges, according to the officer. He said this is pretty much a slam dunk, obviously.”
OP confirmed that it’s indeed being charged as a hit-and-run.
“Wow she really sucks at driving. At least this will be pretty clear-cut for the insurance,” /u/salt-operation replied.
“People like this go about their lives completely oblivious to how many times a day they avoid an accident because someone else was paying attention,” /u/Medioh_ added.
A hit-and-run with property damage in Oregon is classified as a Class A misdemeanor with a maximum $5,000 fine and possible one year jail time (unlikely in this case.)
