Not only did they not save time, but they can look forward to a $300+ fine in the mail, too.
Plano area commuter and Redditor /u/StealthMidget shared a case of instant justice from earlier last week (May 22, 2025) to the /r/ConvenientCop subreddit showing a driver in an Infiniti SUV, blatantly blowing through a gore point to pass traffic on the Central Expressway, get pulled over by Texas HIghway Patrol shortly after the fact.
Check out the case of Convenient Cop in the embedded video below, with the original Reddit thread linked here.
The incident happened on I-75 (Central Expressway) in Plano just before Exit 33 onto Bethany Dr (exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the dashcam footage shows, OP is in stop-and-go traffic on the Central Expressway.
Wanting to illegally take advantage of the long gore point separating traffic with an upcoming exit, a driver in a blue Infiniti SUV can be seen driving through said gore point, fast.
In Texas, crossing a gore point, a triangular area marked by solid white lines separating lanes or ramps, is generally prohibited under the Texas Transportation Code.
This action is considered a violation of §545.064, which states that a driver may not drive over or across a dividing space, physical barrier, or section constructed to impede vehicular traffic, except through an opening or at a crossover or intersection established by a public authority.
A little over 10 seconds after the illegal maneuver, an officer with the Texas Highway Patrol in a black Chevrolet Tahoe can be seen blazing past OP on their way to catch the offending driver.
“That’s a great way to get a flat tire,” the top comment from /u/ninj4geek reads, pointing out how debris and small objects are often kicked off from other lanes into a gore point area.
“Just when you think you’re the sly one, karma says, ‘Not so fast!,” /u/CutesyCriminal adds.
In Texas counties, a violation like this is considered crossing a physical barrier, which typically carries a fine of around $240 before all the fees.
