Driver in the slow lane forces a lane change on the 105. Almost causes rear end collision.

SoCal commuter and Redditor /u/Turbulent_Swan_7831 shared headshaking dashcam footage from I-105 from earlier last week (July 7, 2025) showing a late signaler try to brute force his way into a lane change only to get blocked by a road rager, almost clipping his car into OP’s had OP not swerved out of the way.

Check out the absolutely poor display of driving below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident happened on I-105 just after Exit 12 onto Long Beach Blvd (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As the dashcam footage shows, OP is minding his own business in the slow lane.

It’s worth noting he’s in a new car (appears to be a 2025 Honda CR-V according to his post history) with less than 8,000 miles.

Behind him, a driver in a Dodge Journey speeds up in a bid to change lanes, but a driver in a Honda Civic, sensing this Journey driver is going to do the unthinkable, change lanes in front of them, speeds up (because, of course, they do.)

The Dodge Journey driver does a last-second signal, but it’s too little too late, and the driver in the Civic is hell bent blocking any lane change attempt.

That, however, doesn’t stop the Journey driver from squeezing into the growing smaller and smaller gap between OP’s rear bumper and the front bumper of the Civic.

The Journey driver almost feints a side collision, but swerves back.

OP, sensing the inevitable, darts out of the way and into the breakdown lane, avoiding what would’ve certainly been a collision.

OP’s sure to include a screenshot of the rear of the Journey driver, plate included (7AUT699)

“Good example of OP preventing an accident by paying attention and having situational awareness and taking action,” the top comment from /u/Word1_Word2_4Nyumbers reads.

“This exact same thing happened to me, except it was in the middle lane of a 3 lane highway and I had absolutely no escape route. Put my car right on the opposite line to give the person behind me as much space as I could without hitting another car and she hit me and totaled my car,” /u/ajb92962 unfortunately shared.

“To be fair, it says “Dodge” on his car to warn you that you needed to dodge him,” /u/Awkward_Ti**y_Kitty added.

This is arguably an unsafe lane change, with violators in California subject to a $238 fine before all the fees and one point on your driving record.
