Two drivers were caught on dashcam using a lane to go straight to bypass this dashcam owner waiting for a pedestrian on a bike to cross.
SoCal driver and Redditor /u/Thigh_Workout shared frustrating dashcam footage from earlier last week (July 15, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing two drivers blowing past him, using a lane not meant for turning, all because he was waiting for a cyclist to cross at this crosswalk.
Check out the display of impatience below with the original Reddit thread linked here.
The incident took place at the intersection of Studebaker Rd and Imperial Highway (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the dashcam footage shows, OP rolls up to the aforementioned intersection and stops, yielding to a pedestrian riding their bike close to halfway across the crosswalk.
In California, Norwalk included, pedestrians are allowed to ride their bikes through a crosswalk.
Suddenly, a driver in an Altima in the lane going straight swings across OP’s turn lane, cutting him off.
Then, so does a driver in a truck, doing the same thing as the Altima.
At least the driver in the truck let the cyclist cross.
OP honks his horn and guns it as he turns, preventing the driver in the truck from completing his illegal turn across the lane OP is turning into.
Of course, not wanting to get left in the dust, the driver in the truck guns it, too, and reasserts his dominance, cutting OP off again, as he sped away.
“Good f***ing lord, people are impatient,” the top comment from /u/Drudenkreusz reads.
“I know this intersection. Norwalk can get wild,” local /u/PMPKNpounder adds.
“Road raging at pedestrians is just the lowest of lows,” /u/weird_quiet_guy concurred.
What those cars did is a violation of,
- VC 21461(a) — “Failure to obey a traffic control device,” which includes lane markings.
- VC 22101(d) — “Turning movements and required signals” requires turning from the correct lane.
Both violations earn drivers a $238 fine with all the fees and a point on their record for each.
