This dashcammer waited five good and long seconds before throwing the slightest of honks to get them to move. They took it personally.
Madison County commuter and Redditor /u/DoinSomeBrewin shared headshaking driving behaviour from last week (Aug 4, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit, showing a likely distracted driver throwing a little road rage tantrum after getting called out and honked at for not paying attention at a light.
Check out their little hissy fit behind the wheel below with the original Reddit thread linked here.
The incident happened at the intersection of S Main St. and US Highway 40 in Troy (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As OP’s dashcam footage shows, he’s patiently waiting for his light to turn green on S Main St.
It finally does, and, after waiting a good five seconds for the driver in the Ford Fiesta to move, a reasonable enough length of time to wait, OP gives the shortest honk possible, a polite honk if you will.
The Fiesta driver took this personally and immediatly threw a brake check at OP before proceeding to go, but at the slowest of crawls.
OP honks, but that only gets the tantrum thrower to throw in another brake check before finally going, only because it was turning yellow.
To top it all off, they technically ran the red light, as we can see, they didn’t cross the limit line in time.
“Running the red light was the icing on the s*** sandwich,” the top comment from StupidBetaTester reads.
“I wanted a convenient cop so f***ing badly,” OP replied.
“You’re such a jerk for calling them out for getting lost in their phone. How dare you!?!,” /u/Dyrogitory sarcastically commented.
“This obviously didn’t happen in NYC or Boston. They love horns.”
In Illinois, Improper Lane Usage / Obstructing Traffic like this is against 625 ILCS 5/11-709 or 11-804, driving unnecessarily slowly or obstructing the flow of normal traffic without a valid reason, and carries a fine of up to $150 before all the fees and 5 points on your record. sources
If a police officer observed the red light runner, that adds another $120 fine before fees and 20 points on your driving record.
