Drivers heading the wrong way down US Route 1 is a common occurrence in this area.

Del Ray commuter and Redditor /u/Tomskailua shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier last week (Aug 4, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a clueless driver turning the wrong way down US Route 1, almost causing a collision with OP.

Check out the dashcam footage for yourself below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident happened along the 300 block of NE 6th Ave (aka US Route 1) in Delray Beach (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As the dashcam video shows, OP is driving along at the speed limit on NE 6th Ave when a driver in a red Toyota RAV4 headed the wrong way continues driving towards him.

They most likely turned right onto NE 6th St. from NE 4th St, disregarding signage explicitly pointing out it’s one-way and you shouldn’t turn right.

It seems to be a common occurrence in the area.

” Yup, it’s a one-way and I see this quite a bit, but I’m never the one to actually get hit head-on,” OP replied to a comment asking about the one-way nature of these local streets.

“The speed limit is 35, so we all really slowed down, and this person just kept going, which is freaking clueless!!”

OP lays down a healthy dose of honking, but the driver not only swerves around OP and doesn’t self-correct, but continues driving on, oblivious to their mistake.

Thankfully, OP’s able to avoid hitting the driver before continuing on himself.

“Idiot needs to r/learnhowtodrive and learn the definition of one-way street,” one of the top rated comments from /u/Hurricane_Killer commented.

“Bonus idiot points for lane splitting in the rear camera and forcing two cars to avoid a collision,” /u/ElHoser added.

In Florida, the fine for driving the wrong way down a one-way street is $159 before all the fees, plus three points on your record.
