A Tesla driver got away with a right on red despite signage prohibiting it, emboldening this driver in a Jeep to send it. A Convenient Cop ended their little dopamine rush.

Riverside County commuter and Redditor /u/Most-Road-5366 shared headshaking dashcam footage from Wildomar from earlier last April (April 29, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a Tesla driver going right on red despite signage prohibiting it and a Jeep driver trying something similar from the wrong right lane, only to get caught.

Check it all play out in the dashcam video below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident happened at the intersection of Hidden Springs Road and Clinton Keith Road, as drivers exited the local Shopping Center at the Wildomar Square Office Suites (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As this screenshot of that location shows, there are two sets of signs informing drivers they can’t turn right on red.

No right on red.

Regardless, we see a driver in a white Tesla do exactly that.

They get away with it, but their actions likely embolden this Jeep driver to pull some shenanigans.

The driver in the Wrangler not only makes a right on red, but they do it from the wrong lane, technically running a red light.

An observing police officer in their Explorer Pursuit sees the Jeep driver’s egregious move and puts on their reds and blues to pull the driver over.

“Not even from the right lane lmao the audacity,” the top comment from /u/Cttread reads.

“Never trust a Ford Explorer,” /u/Uncanny– humorously points out.

“Looks like Tesla got away with it, and the Ford was probably thinking about it,” /u/Word1_Word2_4Numbers added.

In Riverside and most of California, running a red light gets you a $100 ticket, but after all the fines, that balloons to over $400 and beyond. You can also expect 1 point on your record.
