The Tesla driver drove over a STOP pavement marking, warning drivers to stop and yield to pedestrians and cross traffic before proceeding.
Huntersville driver and Redditor /u/justheretolurk123456 shared headshaking dashcam footage as he drove by Harris Teeter on Rose Commons Dr. from earlier in August (Aug 15, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a Tesla driver bolting out into cross traffic from the parking lot without so much as the slightest effort to yield.
Check out the harebrained maneuver below with the original Reddit thread linked here.
The incident happened in front of Harris Teeter on Rose Commons Dr. (exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the dashcam shows, OP is driving along Rose Commons Dr, passing by several parking lot driveways.
As he approaches a driveway by a TCBY, we can see a driver in a White Tesla Model Y bolting towards the T-intersection and immediatly makeing a left turn onto Rose Commons Dr as vehicles, OP included, approach from both sides.
Although it’s not a stop sign, there’s a pavement marking warning drivers to STOP there.

Thankfully, OP stops, but they come within less than two or three feet of each other.
A half second later, and assuming the Tesla didn’t stop on “its own,” a collision would’ve occurred.
“Tesla Drivers have replaced BMW drivers as the worst drivers imo. When I see some stupidity on the road, it usually involves a Tesla,” the top comment from /u/Latter-Bluejay-8317 reads.
“For as small a percentage of cars as they are, they make up the vast majority of the jerk behavior I see on the road,” /u/Andrewcewers concurred.
“LOL. I instantly recognized that shopping center. That whole area on the east side of the lake (exit 23 all the way to 36) is full of the most entitled drivers in the state. West side lake dweller here. It’s getting almost as bad on this side,” local /u/Paramotor_MetalHead added.
In North Carolina, drivers exiting a driveway are required to yield the right-of-way to all approaching vehicles on the roadway. Failing to do so is considered a moving violation and is subject to penalties, usually a $35 base fine before all the fees and 3 points.
