This is the second time this driver’s been hit by a truck this year.

Duval County commuter and Redditor /u/Tomato_Frappe shared shocking dashcam footage from earlier in August (Aug 19, 2025) to the /r/Subaru subreddit showing a driver in a dump truck on SR-9/I-95 changing lanes and crashing into OP’s Subaru Legacy, pit manuevering his car, and causing him to spin a full 360 degrees before coming to a heart pounding stop.

Check out the dashcam footage below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

My Legacy got pit moved by a dumpptruck…

The incident occurred on SR-9/I-95 in Jacksonville, FL, as drivers crossed the Trout River Bridge (Exact location on Google Maps linked here).

As OP’s dashcam footage shows, he’s travelling in the slow lane of I-95.

We see a driver in a dump truck in the middle lane pass OP.

Due to traffic, OP then passes the dump truck.

Just before OP passes the dump truck in the other lane, the dump truck driver begins to change lanes.

OP, in a 2008 Subaru Legacy GT, likely was not visible by the dump truck driver at the time of the lane change.

Regardless, the onus is on the one changing lanes to be sure it’s 100% safe to do so.

The Dump truck driver literally pit maneuvers OP, causing OP to spin a full 360, the rear of his Subaru slamming into the median freeway barrier before coming to a complete stop.

“…Low COG and good tires kept me level through the 180. Pulled the plastic off the bumper and drove home. Frame damage means she’s totaled, but I didn’t get a scratch. Impact threw the rearview mirror and forward camera into the cabin…always wear your seatbelt,” OP replied.

“Yes, the driver pulled over and waited with me for the highway patrol. Now that I’ve seen the video, I’ll be filing in the morning. He seemed a bit rattled, I suggested putting his loved ones in a Subaru.”

In Florida, the typical fine for an improper lane change ranges from $65 to $300, depending on circumstances such as whether an accident occurred or there were injuries.

Unsafe lane changers can also expect to see 3 points on their record.
