This Mercedes driver told insurance the dashcam owner ran a stop sign. Video evidence showed they were liars.
Broward County driver and Redditor /u/amusmc shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier in August (Aug 20, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a driver in a Mercedes turning into the wrong parking lot lane and crashing into OP.
And, when the time came to tell their respective insurances the story, the Mercedes driver straight-up lied, blaming OP as the cause of the collision.
Check out his dashcam footage below with the original Reddit thread linked here.
The incident happened in this business parking lot off of Southpark Dr. next to Panna Weston (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As OP’s dashcam shows, they’re attempting to get out of this parking lot around 10 PM.
A driver in a white Mercedes can be seen entering the parking lot and immediatly turning left directly into OP, causing a minor collision.
It wasn’t a hard enough crash to cause any major damage or serious injury, but it was strong enough to cause thousands in damage and warrant insurance getting involved.
OP honks, and that’s where the video ends.
“Of course, they did (try to blame us), but their insurance said the video speaks for itself. They actually claimed I ran the stop sign,” OP clarified to another Redditor asking if they tried to pin the blame on OP.
“Most people drive with their eyes open. Not this guy,” one of the top comments from /u/hobosbindle added.
“Gotta admit that’s one of the slowest head-on collisions I’ve ever seen,” /u/11B-33T observed.
In Florida, if you change lanes unsafely and collide with another vehicle, you can be cited for an improper lane change, which is a moving violation under Florida Statute 316.085. This offense typically carries:
- Fines: Between $65 and $300, depending on the circumstances.
- Points on your driving record: 3 points.
