This dashcam owner feared almost becoming a statistic and is asking the public for help if you can make out the plates.

Denver commuter and Redditor /u/Vq-Blink shared one seriously close call from earlier in August (Aug 20, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing what’s likely a distracted driver running a red extremely late at this intersection, almost t-boning /u/Vq-blink at full speed.

Check out the shocking dashcam footage embedded below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident happened at the intersection of Yale Ave and Holly St. (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As the dashcam shows, OP is stopped on E Yale Ave waiting for the light to turn green, which it finally does.

OP sees it’s green and goes.

Halfway through the intersection, he’s shocked to see a driver in a Blue Lexus RX 350 blow past him at speed, narrowly missing him by what looks like less than two feet.

Ironically, if OP waited even two beats, he would’ve gotten t-boned.

Thankfully, nothing came of the incident; however, it did, according to OP, “scare(d) the hell out of me to say the least.”

Many Redditors advised OP that, if he had just looked both ways better or creeped out into the intersection, he could’ve avoided this, to which he replied,

“Everyone in here keeps assuming that I’m some inept driver with zero perception and in my 35 years on this earth have never thought to look both ways to cross an intersection.”

“The fact of the matter is, this specific intersection comes in at such a sharp diagonal that you cannot physically see left until halfway through the intersection.”

“Even if I were actively looking which by the way would have taken my eyes off the road in front of me by the time I got to a point where I would be able to see it, it would have been too late anyway.”

Despite other Redditors best efforts, they could only make out a “4” from the plates.

With the provided video, if you think you can do better, feel free to comment on what you think the plates read in the original thread linked above.

As it stands, one Redditor was only able to read the figure “4.”

“Hopefully, when they inevitably do wipe out they just take out a lamp post and not another car,” one of the top comments from /u/Eggith reads.

“Even if you get the plate, your local authorities aren’t going to do anything with it. They’ll take a report, but that’ll be about all that happens. I’d be super shocked if they actually followed up on it,” /u/MrsVongruesome realistically replied.

“I called the non-emergency police line, and they said that there is nothing they could do. My exact words were, “So I have video proof of this person recklessly driving and almost killing someone, and there’s nothing you can do?” Their response was that it was correct,” OP concurred.

Red light runners in the Denver area are subject to a $75 base fine, which jumps to $180 after all the fees. Violators also get (4) points on their record.
