After avoiding being T-boned, the clueless driver slammed on their brakes, almost getting rear-ended right after.
Austin area driver and Redditor /u/Reamnent shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier last week (Sept 4, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing the hare-brained moment a driver in a Nissan crossover took a right on red too late, and then doubled down and almost got themselves rear-ended, too.
Check out the dashcam footage embedded below with the original Reddit thread linked here.
As mentioned, the incident happened at the intersection of W William Cannon Dr. and Frontage Rd. as drivers exited the Mopac Expressway (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the dashcam shows, OP is approaching the aforementioned intersection from William Cannon Dr.
Just as he’s about to make it across, a driver in a Nissan Rogue fails to yield and turns right, right in front of OP.
Here’s the yield they glazed by.

Thankfully, OP was paying attention and slowed in time.
The Rogue driver fails to commit to the turn, hesitates, and brakes, almost causing their own rear-end accident right after almost getting t-boned.
Thankfully, both drivers made it out unscathed, hopefully, but not likely, the Rogue driver having learned a valuable yield lesson.
“I love that they cut you off and almost made you T-bone them, then slam on their brakes so you can rear-end them. If I didn’t know better, I’d say it was an attempted insurance scam. But people are actually just this stupid,” the top comment from /u/Amrynthe- reads.
“The dead stop AFTER cutting you off, actually makes my blood boil. F***ing idiots like this need their license revoked,” /u/__________________99 concurred.
In Austin, Texas, failing to yield when making a right turn can result in a fine of $169 before all the fees. Additionally, such violations may add 2 points to your driving record, potentially leading to increased insurance premiums and license suspension if accumulated points exceed the threshold
