An impatient driver nearly sideswipes a truck to potentially save 3 seconds. Was it worth it?
Buford-area commuter and Redditor /u/WillOfTheWeek shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier last week (Sept 15, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing an impatient early morning driver trying to cut a line of other drivers, only to almost crash, head-on, with a right turner.
Check out the dashcam footage of the T-intersection in question below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident happened in the early hours of the morning, around 6 a.m., at the T-intersection of Flowery Branch Rd. and Spout Springs Rd. (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As this screenshot of the above location shows, once drivers on Flowery Branch get the green light, traffic can go either left or right.

One driver in what looks like a black Cadillac SUV is too impatient to wait and drives against traffic to make it to the front.
However, at the same time, a driver on Spout Springs turns right and, with the right of way, heads straight for the impatient driver.
With a bit of room to drive on the shoulder, the right turner squeezes past the Cadillac, avoiding what would’ve been one pricey, early morning accident.
“That double yellow is apparently just a suggestion. Who knew?🤷🏻♂️,” the top comment from /u/CHRam2010 reads.
“I watch these videos and hope that some of these folks get a wake-up call and realize their awesome, time-saving driving skills are not why they never end up in a total wreck. Looks like this moron continued to drive like a moron,” /u/thejayroh added.
“Overtaking on double yellow is crazy, but going into an INTERSECTION while on the wrong side of the road is just insanity,” /u/javier1zq concurred.
If someone drives against traffic on a divided highway or separated lanes (wrong side of the roadway), Georgia law treats it under OCGA § 40-6-40, which requires driving on the right half of the roadway. Violating this is a moving violation that carries 3 points on your license according to the Georgia DDS points schedule. Fines vary by jurisdiction, but in Gwinnett County courts, similar offenses are usually in the $200–$300 range, close to the Athens-Clarke posted fine of $219 for driving on the wrong side of the road.
