“Apparently, my green light was their green arrow?”

SoCal resident and Redditor /u/Rawr_Dinosaurs shared headshaking dashcam footage from downtown Artesia from earlier last week (Sept 16, 2025) showing a driver, clearly not thinking, making a U-turn against traffic with the right of way, and it was all caught on dashcam.

Check out the dashcam footage below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident happened at the intersection of Artesia Blvd. and Roseton Ave. (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As the dashcam footage shows, OP is driving along Artesia Blvd in the middle of the night around 9.

As he approaches the aforementioned intersection, he gets the green light and starts to proceed across, that is, until a driver in a Nissan Sentra going the opposite way and poised to make a U-turn from the left turn lane jumps in front of him.

There’s no signage prohibiting U-turns, but you still have to yield the right of way to cross traffic.

Thankfully, OP was paying attention, avoiding what would’ve been one senseless and costly accident.

“Looks like they drive with an entitlement mindset.”They have time to slow down for me, so I have time to go,” the top comment from /u/appa-ate-momo reads.

“Green means go when you feel like it when you’re in a Nissan. Didn’t you know that, OP? /s,” /u/StackThePads33 sarcastically added.

“Altima right of way trumps all,” /u/Prize-Trouble-7705 humouredly quipped, pointing out how Altima drivers seem to be the worst drivers, although it’s worth pointing out the above Nissan is a Sentra.

In California, violating Vehicle Code § 21801 by failing to yield the right-of-way during a left or U-turn is considered a moving violation. The standard penalty includes a $238 fine and the addition of one point to your driving record. Accumulating points can lead to increased insurance premiums and, if too many are accrued within a certain period, potential suspension of your driver’s license.
