She claimed she was late for work, which is no excuse for such poor driving behaviour.
Andreson County commuter and Redditor /u/Wild-Hufflepuff shared shocking dashcam footage from earlier in 2023 (May 23, 2023) showing the hare-brained moment a driver, late for work, shot out onto Bradford Rd without looking and immediatly got t-boned.
Check out the surprising moment all caught on dashcam in the video embedded below with the Reddit thread linked here.
The incident happened on the 300 block of Bradford Rd, just before the intersection with Brown Trail (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the dashcam shows, OP is driving along Bradford Rd. in the right lane.
It’s in the middle of the day, and there’s a drizzle, the rain not conducive to quick braking actions.
As she approaches the driveway to an apartment complex, a driver in a Fiat 500L bursts out onto the road without even the slightest yield to drivers in either direction.
“The police and both of the insurance companies determined that I had about 10 feet to react when she decided to forego the clear right-of-way,” OP explained in the comments.
OP t-bones the inattentive driver hard at 40 MPH, likely totaling both cars.
“She tried to tell me that she was ‘just late for work.'”
We can assume both drivers made it out without any serious injuries, as OP didn’t expound on any.
“The investigation went smoothly after I sent the footage. The other driver’s insurance didn’t even try to fight the claim and paid out big time. I will simply never drive without a dash cam, especially in Texas.”
“I don’t think they looked either way. They barely even slowed down. Talk about a full send,” the top comment from /u/TabOverSpaces reads.
“Brother, that’s not even looking both ways. That’s just straight negligent driving,” /u/Well-Pitter-Patter concurred.
In Texas, failure to yield results in a fine between $150-$200 before all the fees and two points on your record. The fine increases incrementally up to $4,000 when serious injuries are involved.
