In their bid to save a few seconds, they’ve racked up an insurance headache and a ruined afternoon instead.
Fulton County commuter and Redditor /u/Scrappy_The_Crow shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier in September (Sept 23, 2025) showing an impatient driver trying to brute force his way into two upcoming turn lanes towards Johns Creek High, only to sideswipe an innocent driver, ending up not saving any time at all.
Check out the dashcam video embedded below with the original Reddit thread linked here.
The incident happened on State Bridge Rd. just before the intersection with turn lanes headed into Johns Creek High School (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the dashcam shows, OP is driving along State Bridge Rd, towards the aforementioned intersection.
As he comes to a slow roll, he observes a driver in a black Honda Pilot decide to use its SUV’s off-road capabilities to drive through the median in a bid to get to the upcoming turn lanes a few seconds faster.
The Pilot driver miscalculates how much space he has to his left and sideswipes a driver in a black Toyota Corolla, minding their own business.
The impact was hard enough that it shook the Corolla side-to-side.
Maybe only their tires touched, or worse, they traded paint; no one, OP included, is not entirely sure.
It was, however, bad enough that the driver in the Pilot threw on his flashers and prepared to stop to trade information with the driver he had hit.
Thankfully, it was a small enough impact OP did not feel the need to stop to give them the video.
“In this instance, I did not stop. They both pulled over, there were no injuries, and I was due at a critical meeting,” OP clarified.
“Pointless… they didn’t even gain any ground over the cars they were trying to pass,” one of the top comments from /u/Alive-Hovercraft8911 reads.
“I mean if you’re going on the grass anyway, what’s the point of trying to squeeze by closely, just go on the grass and don’t come close to hitting another car lmao jeez some people are beyond idiotic really,” /u/comfortable_mix_834 pointed out.
In Georgia, driving onto a landscaped median or shoulder area is prohibited, even on city streets. This area is typically marked by solid lines or physical barriers and is not intended for vehicle travel.
As such, violators are subject to both a base fine and points.
