He had his signal on, so, you know, it’s all good.
South Bay area commuter and Redditor /u/ypapruoy shared headshaking dashcam footage from the 237 from earlier in September (Sept 24, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing the absolute worst driver in a lifted truck completely ignoring the rules of the road as he forced his way into an HOV lane, almost taking out OP in the process.
Check out his dashcam footage embedded below with the original Reddit thread linked here.
The incident occurred on the 237, just before the exit onto Zanker Road in Milpitas (Exact location on Google Maps linked here).
As the dashcam shows, OP is in the HOV lane, minding his own business.
Just as he crosses under the McCarthy Blvd. underpass, to his right, you can see a driver in a lifted red Ford F-150 entering 237.
The driver has his signal on. Why?
It becomes apparent why, as the driver in the lifted F-150 glides towards the HOV lane, doing multiple lane changes at a time.
With no regard for OP and his right of way, the driver in the F-150 forces his way in front of OP, over double solid white lines, cutting OP off, forcing him into the breakdown lane to avoid a collision.
Totally unhinged driving behaviour.
“Blinker was on, which clearly means they have the right of way. I must be the idiot here,” the top comment from OP reads.
“Lifted, spaced, blacked alloy rims, and idiotized, it all fits nicely into one big red stereotypes package,” /u/Manunancy added.
“I am 100% convinced that there is some type of A-hole test you have to pass before you can buy a jacked-up truck!,” /u/unpossible72 added.
If you cross a double solid white (or yellow) line to enter or exit an HOV/carpool lane in California, you could be cited under Vehicle Code 21655.8 (for HOV preferential lane violations) or Vehicle Code 21460 (for crossing double parallel solid lines)
If you are illegally using the HOV lane, that’s another $490 fine and one point on your record.
