It’s unlikely anyone was seriously hurt in what turned out to be one embarrassing, low-speed collision.
Vine Street Expressway commuter and Redditor /u/OverExposedDad shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier in October (Oct 9, 2025) to the /r/Dashcam subreddit showing an inattentive Subaru driver slamming into the back of a school bus at a relatively low speed.
Check out the footage embedded below, along with the original Reddit thread, linked here.
As mentioned, the incident occurred on the 95/Vine Street Expressway in Philadelphia, just before the 22nd Street overpass (exact location on Google Maps linked here).
In the dashcam footage, we can see OP in Lane #2 and other traffic creeping along a slightly congested, in the middle of the afternoon 95.
A driver in a school bus can be seen changing lanes into Lane #1.
In response, a driver in a Subaru Legacy can be seen braking, letting the school bus in.
It seems the Subaru driver then got distracted as, after changing lanes, and although the school bus came to a stop as indicated by its brake lights, the Subaru driver didn’t notice.
The Legacy slams into the back of the school bus at around 10 MPH after they emergency brake, but it’s too little too late.
The Legacy’s unibody construction poses no match to the rear of the bus’s steel frame, as we can see the Legacy’s hood crumple up, causing thousands in damage to his own car.
The bus likely didn’t suffer more than a scratch.
And, the passengers inside probably didn’t feel much, either.
“The good old Surekill Expressway!,” the top comment from /u/SSFx93 reads.
In Pennsylvania, rear-ending another vehicle on the freeway due to distracted driving can lead to a $50 fine for using a handheld mobile device, effective June 5, 2026. This violation carries no points for non-commercial drivers but may be recorded on commercial drivers’ records as a non-sanction violation.
