No Helmet. No regard for the rules of the road. No problem.
Reno Commuter and Redditor /u/Attention_Internal shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier last week (Oct 29,2025) to the /r/Dashcam subreddit showing a scooter rider running a red light a good 3 seconds after the light turned red.
Check out this piece of work and their scootering skills (or lack thereof) below with the original Reddit thread linked here.
The incident happened at the intersection of N Virginia St. and W 15th St. (exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the dashcam shows, OP is stopped at the aforementioned busy intersection waiting for the lights to turn green.
They do, and OP does the right thing, giving a generous pause as pedestrians on both sides begin to cross, not to mention traffic going the other way, possibly turning in front of him.
OP is ready to creep out into the middle of the intersection, a good 3 seconds after being given the possibility for the right of way, but emergency brakes.
Why?
This dude on a scooter comes barreling through in front of him, red light be damned.
He looks for cross traffic coming to his left, but doesn’t look at OP creeping up on his right.
Oh, and he didn’t have the right of way at all.
Thankfully, OP was paying attention.
Had he been a reactive driver and jumped when it turned green, that scooter rider surely would’ve face-planted into the side of his door.
“Dumba** punk. He’ll learn it the hard way one day,” /u/sc4kilik commented.
“University of Reno….no surprise there,” /u/Omacrontron added.
“Good eye. Could’ve ended a lot worse for him, and been a very annoying ordeal for you,” /u/buttlord5000 also threw in.
Contrary to popular belief, you can get a red light ticket on a scooter in Nevada.
In Nevada, running a red light on an electric scooter can cost around $305 and add 4 demerit points to your driver’s license.
