This driver brute-forced his way into a right on red without yielding to an oncoming dashcam owner.

Albuquerque driver and Redditor /u/Myuna_K shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier in November (Nov 4, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a driver turning without yielding, onto Cedar from Lead, against a red light, almost resulting in a t-bone accident of their own doing.

Check out the dashcam video embedded below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

As mentioned, the incident happened at the intersection of Lead Ave SE and Cedar St SE (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As the dashcam shows, OP is driving along Cedar St with a green light (has the right of way.)

As she approaches the aforementioned intersection, a driver in a black Ford Maverick suddenly turns in front of her despite the Maverick driver facing a red.

While right on red is allowed in New Mexico, you must come to a complete stop and yield to traffic with the right of way first.

Thankfully, OP was driving defensively and slammed on her brakes, avoiding what would’ve been one disastrous T-bone collision.

They come within inches of colliding.

“Buddy! Oh, whoa, what the f***?” we can hear OP understandably exclaim.

“I’m seeing more and more of these idiots lately. Somehow they seem to think they have right of way or they just don’t care,’ one of the top comments from /u/Totentanz1980 reads.

“Truck driver doing truck driver things. Great job avoiding the accident,” /u/uncondintionalten added.

In New Mexico, turning right on red without yielding is treated as “failure to obey a traffic control device” and typically carries 3–4 points on your driving record, with accumulation potentially leading to license suspension. The fine varies by city but generally ranges from $25 to $100, plus court fees and assessments, depending on local jurisdiction. (law.justia.com)
