This BMW driver’s illegal maneuver saved them 7 seconds.
Los Angeles commuter and Redditor /u/Slurpmo shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier this year (Apr 4, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a driver in a BMW pulling an illegal driving maneuver on the CSUN campus by driving against traffic, almost causing a collision with a shuttle bus.
Check out the dashcam video below with the original Reddit thread linked here.
The incident happened on the CSUN Campus in the 1800 block of Vincennes St. across the American College Sports Medicine Building (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the dashcam shows, OP is driving along the aforementioned narrow street.
Up ahead is a driver in a shuttle bus dropping off a rider near the Campus’s Sustainability center.
As such, a handful of cars are stopped behind the shuttle.
We then see our BMW driver appear, making a left onto Vincennes from E University Dr, and, instead of patiently waiting for the shuttle to move, they decide to bypass traffic and drive going the wrong way.
By the time they go to overtake the shuttle, the shuttle is ready to go, which they do, almost ending up t-boning the BMW since now the BMW was in their blind spot.
Total time saved by the illegal maneuver? 7 whole seconds.
“I would have loved to have seen them forced to reverse,” the top comment from /u/SHOW_ME_UR_KITTY reads.
“Just a BMW doing BMW things,” /u/Shayden-Froida added.
In California, if you drive the wrong way on a city street (i.e. against traffic on a one-way road), you’re likely violating VC 21657. That carries a base fine of about $238 and adds 1 point to your DMV record. (2fixyourtrafficticket.com)
