With thoughts of how good his Big Mac and Quarter Pounder were going to be, this careless driver didn’t think it important to yield before bolting out.
Multnomah County driver and Redditor /u/AteYearCake4U shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier in January (Jan 17, 2026) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a driver bolting out of this McDonalds driveway without the slightest amount of yielding and almost causing their own costly, and possibly injurious, t-bone collision.
Check out the dashcam footage below with the original Reddit thread linked here.
The incident happened in the 1000 block of Frontage Rd. (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the dashcam shows, OP is driving eastbound along Frontage Rd.
Suddenly, not more than 60 feet before the driveway into and out of this McDonald’s, a driver in a white Jeep Compass comes bolting out onto Frontage like yielding for cross traffic isn’t a thing.
OP almost resorts to emergency braking to avoid hitting the Compass and thankfully stops in time, giving the Compass driver a healthy dose of honking, too.
The Compass driver, realizing their mistake, stops, too, before completing their turn and going their merry and hopefully less ignorant way.
“Stopping is the best thing because you have no idea if the person is going to do something crazy like gun it in front of you in the next lane. You did the right thing,” one of the top comments from /u/MightyKrakyn reads.
“Like, are you that lazy that you can’t turn your neck one time to look for incoming traffic before pulling out? And do your brakes not work? Is that why you can’t come to an actual stop at the stop sign before entering a major roadway? Ugh. When will they realize they aren’t the only ones on these roads? Smh.,” /u/TrishDaDish51510 added.
“Ikr? It’s like they go through life expecting everyone else to look out for them,” OP replied.
In Troutdale, Oregon, if you pull out onto a road without yielding the right‑of‑way (e.g., entering from a driveway or private road and not yielding to traffic already on the road), you can be cited under ORS 811.280 as a Class B traffic violation.(OregonLaws)
Oregon does not use a traditional DMV point system, but the violation stays on your driving record and can count toward administrative actions under the state’s Driver Improvement Program.(DMV.ORG) Fines for Class B traffic violations like this are typically set by the court (often around a few hundred dollars), with maximum statutory fines up to $1,000 for Class B offenses.(romanolawpc.com)
