Signage, including a car pointed towards Park Ave, indicated this was an off-ramp, not an on-ramp.
Clay County driver and Redditor /u/Fireat40dude shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier this week (Feb 4, 2026) to the /r/IdiotsinCars subreddit showing a driver with their head in the clouds trying to enter I-295 from said interstate’s off-ramp.
Check out the near-collision below with the original Reddit thread linked here.
The incident happened at the intersection of US-17/Park Ave. and this I-295 off-ramp (exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the dashcam shows, OP is headed southbound on US-17/Park Ave towards the intersection with Wells Rd up ahead.
As he approaches the intersection with the aforementioned I-295 off-ramp, a driver in a blue Toyota Corolla heads into said off-ramp as if it were an on-ramp.
Here’s signage they missed indicating this is, in fact, not an on-ramp.

OP blows his horn, warning the Corolla driver of their massive mistake.
“Was trying to grab their attention, evidently the visible cues weren’t enough,” OP responded to a comment asking about his horn use.
Thankfully, the Corolla driver came to their senses, stopped, and presumably backed out and into the correct flow of traffic shortly after.
“Looks like they may have realized their mistake, still crazy that they found their way there,” one of the top comments from /u/SNjr reads.
“OP channeling his inner Joe Pesci,” /u/Midnight-Raider added, commenting on how OP said, “WTF is that?”
In Clay County, FL, if you were cited for entering the wrong ramp as a moving violation like “failure to obey a traffic control device (sign)”, it’s treated like other moving violations under Florida law — about 3 points would be added to your driving record. (FL Highway Safety)
Fines in Clay County for similar moving violations often fall roughly in the $150–$300 range (plus court costs), depending on the court’s schedule and exact charge. (Your Florida Defenders) Accumulating 12 points within 12 months can trigger a 30‑day license suspension under the state’s point system. (FL Highway Safety)
