The dangerous and illegal maneuvers this driver went through, rather than rerouting.
Collin County-area driver and Redditor /u/FWD_to_twin_turbo shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier last year (Apr 28, 2025) from his semi showing a driver, who accidentally got into a turn lane, instead of rerouting, pulling an insane illegal U-turn promptly followed by a left turn from the wrong lane.
Check out the dashcam footage embedded below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident happened at the intersection of Ballard Ave. and Brown St. in Wylie (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the dashcam shows, OP, a semi driver, is stopped, pointed southbound on Ballard.
In front of him, he sees drivers turning left onto Ballard from Brown.
One driver in a white Hyundai, who initially wanted to go straight through Brown, accidentally entered the turn lane and is now forced to turn.
That doesn’t stop them from forcing their will onto fellow drivers in the most illegal way possible, as we see them immediatly flip an illegal U-turn onto Ballard into the right turn lane.
Then, instead of turning right, seeing their opportunity, they turn left from the wrong turn lane instead.
Yeah, they’re now headed the way they wanted to through Brown but risked the safety of other drivers, not to mention their own, to do it.
Overall, a driver who needs their license revoked.
“That’s like… going straight with extra steps…,” the top comment from /u/KiloDoubleMike reads.
“Ooh, I see what happened. The moron is in the left turn lane at the start of the video, but there is a cop behind them in the straight lane,” /u/snuuginz pointed out.
“They easily could’ve waited for the cop (there are no cars behind them in the left lane trying to turn left) and put their turn signal on to go back into the straight lane, but they got spooked by the cop and did…. that. Panic makes people do absolutely deranged stuff sometimes.”
In Wylie, Texas (and generally across Texas) an illegal U‑turn is a moving violation that usually results in about 2 points on your driving record and a fine commonly ranging from ≈ $100 – $200 (plus court costs) if convicted. (DMV.ORG)
An improper lane usage/unsafe lane change (like failing to stay within or use a marked lane) is also a moving violation that generally carries ≈ 2 points and fines often around up to ~$200 (plus fees). (DMV.ORG) Points remain on your record for three years and could ultimately affect insurance or lead to surcharges if you accumulate too many. (DMV.ORG)
