One assumed turners meant they got the green, and the other, led by the blind, followed the leader.

Hillard-area driver and Redditor /u/HeyThisIsLongLOLWTF shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier in February (Feb 3, 2026) showing two drivers both running a red light after one of them gets confused by turners next to them, and the other follows the leader.

Here’s how it all played out in the dashcam video embedded below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident happened at the intersection of Hillard Rome Rd. and Roberts Rd. (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As the dashboard shows, OP is in a turn lane on Hillard Rome pointed northbound.

OP gets the green arrow to turn left and begins to do so, and so does traffic on the other side.

However, a driver in a black Lincoln on the other side confuses turners moving next to them as their cue to go and runs the red light in front of OP.

The driver behind the Lincoln in a Kia, assuming the driver in the Lincoln was right, follows the leader and runs the red light, too.

Thankfully, OP comes to a stop before the Lincoln and the Kia cross, avoiding what would’ve likely been a costly collision.

“I’ve seen people get confused by the green arrow, but the follow up idiot adds an extra layer of stupidity,” the top comment from /u/DarthVader1701A reads.

“Gotta love Hilliard. That area sucks. I know I live by it,” local /u/eyedamage added.

“You’re a lot nicer than me. I’d have had my tires angled and be on the horn,” /u/appa-ate-momo threw in.

In Hilliard, OH (and Ohio statewide), if a police officer personally stops you for running a red light, it’s a minor misdemeanor that generally carries a fine (often around $100–$150) and results in 2 points on your driver’s license under Ohio’s point system. Accumulating points can eventually lead to license suspension if you reach 12 or more within two years. (LegalClarity)
