A Nissan Altima driver was caught on dashcam driving under the influence before crashing into a fence and fleeing the scene of the accident on foot.

Atlanta-area driver and Redditor /u/doOtz shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier in February (Feb 23, 2026) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a driver in a Nissan Altima swerving all over Moreland Ave before eventually crashing.

Check out the dashcam footage embedded below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident occurred along Moreland Ave SE before the eventual crash in the 1200 block (exact location on Google Maps linked here).

As the dashcam shows, a driver in an Altima can be seen driving well under the speed limit, almost swerving into OP’s lane as they attempted to pass.

The driver in the Altima can be seen driving into opposing traffic, headed for the Shops of Moreland strip mall.

By the grace of God, they miss a telephone pole before they eventually drive into a fence.

At that point, they were going slow enough that the fence was strong enough to stop them.

Thankfully, no one else was involved in this driver’s actions.

According to OP, it appears they were likely under the influence.

“Thinking a DUI. They got out and ran. I didn’t stay too long after calling 911, but I uploaded the raw video to them and gave them all the info I could.”

“That escalated quickly. Wow!” one of the top comments from /u/Apprehensive_Try_501 reads.

“At least he indicated AND the correct way. That’s better than 90% of the BMW drivers,” /u/Schmich humouredly pointed out.

In Atlanta, Georgia, a DUI conviction typically carries a fine of about $300 – $1,000 for a first offense (plus court costs/surcharges) and a driver’s license suspension of up to 12 months; Georgia doesn’t use a point system like some states, but the conviction itself stays on your record and can affect insurance and driving privileges.
