A driver in a BMW SUV pulling out too slowly onto Union sparked off a back-and-forth brake check competition.

St. Louis-area driver and Redditor /u/Kfaulk1216 shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier last week (Mar 12, 2026) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing drivers in a BMW and Mercedes going after each other in a road rage-filled back-and-forth.

Check out what sparked off the road rage and what ensued in the embedded video below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident happened along the 1000 block of Union Rd., starting off at the intersection with Spring Dr., before the video clip ends around Reavis Barracks Rd (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As the dashcam shows, OP is headed southbound down Union Rd.

Before he gets to the intersection with Spring Dr, a driver in a blue BMW SUV can be seen pulling out wide into the leftmost lane, in the path of a driver in a black Mercedes sedan.

Taking offense at this, the driver in the Mercedes doesn’t slow down but instead changes lanes and cuts the BMW driver off.

Less than a half mile later, the driver in the BMW returns the favor, changes lanes, and cuts in front of the Mercedes driver.

It doesn’t end there because, in quick succession, the Mercedes driver cuts the BMW driver off, again, followed by the BMW driver, once more, cutting in front of the Mercedes driver for, as far as we know, the final time.

For those keeping score, that’s 4 overtakes total, two a-piece.

The driver in the BMW actively blocks the Mercedes driver from pulling the same move, again, before they both slot into the left turn lane onto Reavis Barracks Rd.

“I see you keeping your safe distance. No reason to get too close to that clown show,” the top comment from /u/ToTheTop24 reads.

“That one guy won. I think,’ /u/davidsequioa sarcastically pointed out.

There is literally a full open lane beside them, but they both need the left lane. Wild,” /u/EuphoricCantaloupe34 observed.

In Missouri, intentionally cutting another driver off during a road-rage incident can be charged as careless and imprudent driving under §304.012. That offense typically carries 4 points on your license and a fine that can exceed $100, depending on the court. If the behavior is aggressive enough, police can escalate it to aggressive driving or assault with a motor vehicle, which can bring much steeper penalties.
