This dashcam owner’s decision to gas it on yellow almost ended in disaster after crossing paths with an extreme red light runner.
Fort Worth-Arlington area driver and Redditor /u/NazoPo shared headshaking dashcam footage from this busy North Richland Hills intersection from earlier at the end of January (Jan 30, 2026) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing an extreme red light runner almost t-boning him after OP legally, although probably against best practices, accelerated towards a yellow light.

The incident happened at the intersection of Smithfield Rd/Bridge St. and Davis Blvd. (exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the dashcam shows, OP is headed eastbound on Smithfield towards the aforementioned intersection.
The light is showing a yellow, which, according to the rules of the road dictate to slow and prepare to stop (or stop if you can do so safely)
Against better judgment, OP accelerates forward to “beat” the yellow.
Just as OP enters the intersection, an extreme red light runner in a white Toyota RAV-4 appears to their left, which, at that point, they had to have run the red light a good 20 seconds after it turned.
OP emergency brakes in time, narrowly avoiding t-boning the red light runner catastropically hard.
OP continues onto Davis, albeit a bit shaken up.

“You were already past the crosswalk and in the intersection when the light turned red; legally, you did NOT run the red light. The other 100% ran the red light,” /u/Thristy_Comment88concurred.
