Honda opts for the trendy reveal yet again by heading to Youtube to unveil its new 2017 Honda Civic Si Coupe and Sedan.

Honda doesn’t need to wait ten more days until the 2017 New York International Auto show to unveil its newest model, instead they’ve opted for Youtube. According to an official press release that Honda dropped earlier today (Apr. 3,2017) they will unveil their latest iteration of the 10th gen Honda Civic with their 2017 Honda Civic Si sedan and coupe on a live video. No word if this will be a live-streamed event with real people but we do know that Honda will be showcasing special track footage of the Honda Civic Si demonstrating just how capable it is around corners. Check out a couple of press photos they included with the press release below.

With the introduction of both the Honda Civic Si sedan and coupe on the North American market Honda completes the full range of Civic. We already have the Honda Civic Coupe, hatch, and sedan already on sale with engine choices from a naturally aspirated 2.0 L all the way up to a turbocharged 1.5 L. A few weeks ago Honda dropped their Honda Civic Type R as the crown of the Civic lineup.

For the 2017 Honda Civic Si, Honda inadvertently dropped its 192 lb-ft torque figure where we extrapolated that final horsepower numbers would be between 195-210. Honda’s latest engines have already hit independent dynos and dynosheets show underrated engine performance from the factory. We can expect the same with this engine.

And even though we don’t know what the sedan will look like, the Honda Civic Si prototype does give us plenty of hints. We can expect a subtle front lip spoiler, reworked sideskirts, an Si specific rear spoiler and a special faux rear diffuser.

If we can assume that the 2017 Honda Civic Type R will be priced somewhere around $35,000, out of the range of the average enthusiast, the Si coupe and sedan should be a sweet spot for fans of the Honda brand wanting to scratch that performance itch.

And performance is what Honda is offering. Highlights from the prototype include active steering and suspension toggled by a sport button on the center console. We suspect this is what Honda will most likely illustrate on their reveal video.

The Honda Civic Si will be a Honda’s most capable Civic Si to date. Honda knows that its demographic wants the ability to “carve it up” on the track with a capable package. This Honda Civic Si will enable owners the opportunity to drive their cars to the track on Sunday, race, and then drive home and daily their Si on Monday.

We can’t wait to see what Honda has in store for the Si. Both coupe and sedan should sell well.
