Audi of North America announced that they are bringing the Audi RS 3 sedan to U.S. soil for the first time ever.

Audi is bringing some serious sedan heat to the New York International Auto Show. Earlier today (Apr. 6, 2017) Audi of North America announced that they are bringing their 400 HP Audi RS3 sedan to officially debut in NY and then promptly head to showroom floors for potential buyers to gawk at. Unfortunately, Audi isn’t bringing their Sportback as well but no one seems to be complaining. Check out a couple of press photos Audi has graced us with showcasing this otherwise unassuming sedan below.

Powering this Audi is their all-new 2.5L turbocharged five-cylinder (yup, you read that right, not four but five) making an impressive 400 HP and 354 lb-ft at 1,700 RPM. Audi promises a 0-60 MPH performance of 3.9 seconds and if you opt for the dynamic plus package, you can top 174 MPH without breaking a sweat. Can anyone say Autobahn bomber? And that five cylinder, we can’t wait to hear it scream past a video camera.

Paired with this engine is Audi’s 7-speed DCT with launch control standard.

Standard on all Audi’s is there legendary Quattro system which, if need be, can send 100 percent of all available torque to the front wheels or the rear wheels.

Bringing all this to a halt are optional carbon ceramic discs if you wish to upgrade from the cast-iron rotors.

You’d be hard pressed to find any difference between the RS3 and its lesser A3 counterparts but there are some definitive visual cues to help you. For one there are signature RS 3 badges all around hinting as to what’s under the hood. Around all four corners, the RS 3’s wheel arches stick out just a little to hint at a wider contact patch. Outback the spoiler is color matched, there are twin exhausts sticking out and there’s a rear diffuser in an aluminum matte finish.

MSRP for this beautiful German sedan starts out at $54,500 for 2017 models and $500 more for 2018 models. Husbands take note when your wives ask you if there’s a small four-door sedan that’ll be perfect for your upcoming set of children you can smugly refer to a pokey little Audi with all sorts of active safety. For a rundown of its full suite of safety features head on over to their official press release for all the details.
