Aston Martin teased and announced plans to make a third hypercar, one that’s slightly more consumer friendly and takes its lineage from the Valkyrie.

The boys at Gaydon are at it again and this time they’re bringing a new hypercar to market, one that takes direct engineering and styling cues from its already “delivers on the hype” capable Valkyrie. As per a press release Aston Martin dropped earlier today (Sept. 20,2018) this Hypercar is codenamed Project ‘003’ and if the teaser images has anything to say about this British Bruiser, it’s once again going to one-up itself in ways only Aston Martin can somehow pull off.

As mentioned, Project 003 will be a direct descendant of the Valkyrie and subsequently the Valkyrie AMR Pro. In a move that saw F1 technology and design literally trickle down from the top-tier racing series and making its way into a production car, Aston Martin took the best Cosworth engine builders had to offer, integrated a KERS system straight from F1 onto that engine, paired it to a 7-speed Ricardo gearbox and packaged that entire powerhouse of a combo in a carbon fiber monocoque and cell designed and engineered by F1’s best.

With a tail of the tape that reads 1,130 HP carrying just 2,270 pounds, in more or less words, this thing absolutely rips. But with only 150 made not counting the 25 AMG Pro versions, this car was clearly a halo car for a car company that only builds halo cars.

Enter this 003. Aston Martin is not holding back on the design and, dare I say, this 003 is style even wilder compared to the Valkyrie. The teaser image shows bodywork that completely covers each wheel in the name of aerodynamic efficiency, something I’ve only seen on prototype cars from the 1970’s. The entire bodywork is something straight out of a Japanese anime, a bold styling direction that you wouldn’t expect from a company most notably known for Bond cars. It’s clearly shaped by CAD design, made to cut through the wind without leaving as much as a whisper.

Project ‘003’ will be built around a lightweight structure and powered by a turbocharged petrol-electric hybrid engine. Combined with active aerodynamics for outstanding levels of downforce in a road-legal car, active suspension systems providing next-level precision, control and driver connection like the Aston Martin Valkyrie and Valkyrie AMR Pro, Project ‘003’ will possess class-leading dynamics on both road and track.

500 “003’s” are slated for production starting in late 2021.

I can’t WAIT to hear what Aston Martin has planned for under its rear engine cover.
